Varese is a pleasant hillside town located a few kilometers from the Swiss border. Surrounded by glacial lakes and verdant countryside, Varese offers a seemingly infinite wealth of historic villas, enchanting gardens and evocative, breathtaking landscapes.
During the 19th century Varese really came into its own and many Art Nouveau hotels and villas were built, which added to the city’s unique, delightful appeal. By the start of the 20th century the city of Varese and the entire surrounding province had become the architectural, artistic, social and cultural heart of the Art Nouveau movement in Italy.

Arrival and Varese warm up tour
Our tour kick of easy with a spin around the Lake of Varese on a beautiful cycling path which is totally flat. During the ride we will try the bikes and stop for a nice cup of Espresso! Once back, we’ll have a relaxing walk in Varese to discover the city and to enjoy a rich Aperitivo before a dinner.
Tour of Campo dei Fiori Mountain Routes. 60km – 80km Total Ascent: 700m – 1200m
This is a beautiful ride around the main mountain of Varese, the Campo dei Fiori. After an initial flat start, the remaining day’s ride is undulating with only one slightly difficult climb at the end. The ascent up to the Campo dei Fiori is challenging, but You’ll be enchanted by the beautiful panorama. The shorter course will take us half way up the mountains to the fascinating village of Sacromonte, where we will stop to visit the village and have a good coffee.
Return to Varese, dinner and overnight.
Varese Loop to Lago Ceresio Routes: 70km – 95km Total Ascent: 1100m – 1650m
Our final ride is challenging as we ride up to Monte Sette Termini (seven peaks) in the north of Varese. After a fantastic descent we’ll ride along the picturesque Lago di Ceresio which is the natural border with Switzerland. The last 30 km are hilly as well, but we will stop for a local cheese tasting along the route to get some calories back in! Some hard work to get back to Varese and then we will celebrate with a good beer!
